Which Range Office Is Right for You? Using Your Tripod to Organize Your Gear

Precision shooting takes a lot of stuff. Wind meter, data, markers, lens care, ear pro, snacks... and unless you've got a few extra hands, it all ends up scattered , in pockets, or buried in the bottom of your pack right when you need it.

Your tripod is already standing right there at every position. The Range Office turns it into your workstation.

What Is the Range Office?

The Range Office clips onto your tripod head and gives you two things: an organized place to store your gear and a writing surface. Take notes, work your data, load mags, all without digging through your bag.

It also gets out of the way fast. Need your tripod as a rear support or as a tack table? Pop it off in seconds. When you're packing up, just pop the buckle at the top, unclip the G-hook, fold it up, cinch it down, throw it in your backpack and drive away.

The Three Options

Every Range Office does the core job. The difference is how much room you want and how much you want to customize it.

Range Office LTE: The Minimalist

The LTE is the lean setup. It still does everything a Range Office should: a writing surface, quick on and off, and a place for your essentials. It's also the easiest on the wallet, which makes it a lot of value for the money.

Best for: shooters who carry a lighter kit and those who want the core function without the extra space.

Range Office 2.0: The Big Workspace

The 2.0 gives you the biggest writing surface in the lineup at 12 inches by 12 inches. That extra room means more space for hook-and-loop compatible gear like pen pouches and our EDC organizers, so you can carry more without it feeling cluttered.

Best for: shooters who do a lot of writing and data work, and anyone who wants maximum surface area and storage.

Range Office Pro: The Modular Middle Ground

The Pro sits between the other two. It's bigger than the LTE but not quite as big as the 2.0, and it adds more features. Its biggest strength is modularity: it accepts our Ready Pouches, along with a bunch of other pouches, so you can add all kinds of storage and change your setup as your needs change.

Best for: shooters who want to set up differently for training and matches, and anyone who likes to customize their kit.

How I Run Mine

Lately I've been running the Range Office Pro. Here's why.

Because it's not quite as big as the 2.0, it's easier to fold up and get close to the binos without rearranging all my stuff. And because the storage is more modular, I can set it up differently for training versus a match very quickly.

Match Setup

On match day, my Range Office carries:

  • Wet-erase markers
  • Sharpie markers
  • My Kestrel, in the Kestrel Pouch
  • Spare ear pro
  • A mag flag
  • An air puffer to clear dust off my scope
  • Zeiss lens wipes
  • Snacks, like power bars and granola bars

Everything I need between stages is right there on the tripod, so I'm not hunting for it while the clock is running.

My Training Setup

For training days, I keep most of the same gear and add:

  • A shot timer
  • A notebook I use much more extensively for recording data and notes

With the Pro, switching between those setups takes a couple of minutes, not a full repack.

Companion Accessories

The Range Office is the base. The accessories are what make it yours.

Kestrel Pouch: Holds your Kestrel 5700 and also works with the Vortex ACE. It attaches with hook and loop, so your weather meter stays protected and right where you can grab it.

Velcro Pouches: Every Range Office takes our hook-and-loop pouches, which are perfect for organizing pens, pencils and all the small miscellaneous stuff that tends to disappear.

Ready Pouches (Pro): The Range Office Pro works with our Ready Pouches, so you can add serious storage and build the exact setup you want.

So Which One Should You Get?

Here's the short version:

  • Want simple and affordable? Go with the Range Office LTE.
  • Want the most writing space and room for gear? Go with the Range Office 2.0.
  • Want to customize your setup for different days? Go with the Range Office Pro.

There's no wrong choice. Each one turns your tripod into an organized workstation, so you can spend less time looking for gear and more time focused on the shot.

Get the Full Setup with a Bundle

The easiest way to get started is with a bundle. Each Range Office bundle pairs the organizer with companion accessories, so you're ready for the range out of the box.
